“I enjoyed discovering Palestine through the Palestinian eyes.”
By: Jasmine Paul – Montenegro
These two weeks in Palestine made me feel at home. We saw so many things that are not easy to put in just a few words, but I will try.
First of all, the people here were so good to us. They took care of everything. They really wanted to make us feel good and to get to know us. The volunteers from Zajel, the students of An-Najah University, and most of all the coordinator of Zajel who was like a father to us, making sure we drink enough water, understand everything and feel well. I cannot thank Zajel team enough.
Secondly, I enjoyed discovering Palestine through the Palestinian eyes. I learned a lot. And even though I already knew about the conflict, being here and living it made it even more real.
The visit of Hebron was really hard, and I think I will remember it all my life: the way that Israeli soldiers and Israeli settlers treated the Palestinians, the way little Israeli kids treated us… a lot of emotions.
I want to thank all the volunteers, for all the work they have done to make these two weeks so rich in experiences and learning. I would definitely come again to Palestine and hopefully to the Zajel camp too. Thank You!
