Zajel Concludes its Environmental Awareness Camp Trips

The International Youth Exchange Programme (Zajel) of An-Najah’s Public Relations Department organized an environmental awareness camp for the University students and graduates.
The four-day camp trips aimed to promote eco-tourism, raise environmental awareness and learn about the challenges facing environment in Palestine, pollution, environmental risks and nature and biodiversity in Palestine. The camp included scientific and cultural tours to various Palestinian cities, meetings with officials of prominent institutions and field trips to a number of sites related to environmental issues.
The students visited various Palestinian cities including Jericho, Ramallah, Jenin, Tulkarm and Hebron. The camp included visiting the Auja Eco Centre in Jericho, Al-Maghtas, Deir Hijleh, Nabi Musa, the Dead Sea, Wadi Qelt and the Jezreel Valley.
The field trips tackled issues on clean energy, solar energy institutions, ways to deal with wastewater, ways to develop nature reserves, development of organic farming systems, reasons of environmental pollution, ways to control industrial pollution, diseases caused by environmental pollution and the health risks associated with wastewater use.
