A Lecture on Media Strategies in Civil Society is organized
Thursday, December 8, 2011 The International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department and the Faculty of Media at An-Najah University organized a lecture at the Faculty on the media strategies in the civil society. The lecture was administered by Dr. Carmen Sammut, the Visiting Professor from the University of Malta.
In her presentation, Dr. Sammut spoke about the mechanism of using media means to achieve the basic goals. She also explained the news management means, and concentrated on quality in presenting news material. Moreover, she gave the audience pieces of advice regarding media work, organizing press conferences, the means to increase the chances to provide media coverage for events and deliver it to the different parts of the society.
The attendants also learned the mechanisms to acquire the steps needed to build media policies and strategies in the civil society so as to strengthen the different civil society institutions. These instructions and guidance regarding media work are very helpful as they enable media men to easily reach the different media means and deliver the message of their institution effectively.
Dr. Sammut is a visiting professor from the University of Malta who is currently working at the Faculty of Media at An-Najah. She holds a PhD degree in media from Gold Smith University in London, UK, and has extensive experience in the field of media and public broadcasting services. She has also worked for a number of channels and as a media analyst for several international media organizations.
