Inauguration of the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) Exhibition
On March 15th 2010, University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, and Mr. Husam Al-Dabbas, General Director of the Public Relations at President Mahmoud Abbas’s Office in Ramallah inaugurated the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department at the University. Dr. Kherieh Rassas, President Assistant for International and Strategic Affairs, Dr. Hasan N’erat, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Mr. Khaled Al-Sa’di, Ms. Hana Zghair and Ms. Ayat Muna from the Public Relations Office in Ramllah also attended the meeting.
The exhibition, which was held at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the New Campus, included pictures and posters that summarized Zajel’s philosophy, goals and programs. As well as the activities it carries out such as international voluntary camps, study visits, video conferences and hosting international volunteers. The exhibition also revealed a number of valuable newspapers that were issued in Yafa before 1939. Mr. Ala Abu Dheer, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at the University, presented a summary of Zajel’s activities, programs and events.
Mr. Husam Al-Dabbas said that this exhibition is a unique effort that shows the University’s concern in social and national issues, and that it combines both past and present through bringing together pictures that depict the valuable past of the Palestinian people and their promising present.
Ms. Hana Zghair, Director of the Coordination and Communication Department at the Presidency Office, described the exhibition as being a way to present social, political and educational issues to the public. It also helps to familiarize the international community with the Palestinian past and present.
Zajel’s primary goal is to create a Palestinian youth that is nationally responsible. It also aims to bring together local and international individuals through a variety of programs in order to exchange ideas and cultures.
