Indescribable Experience

By: Eva, Belgium
Zajel program trip was an indescribable experience. Palestine deserves so much. During the trip we could visit different cities, very different from each other.
The Palestinians are very warm people, whether in the cities or the refugee camps. people were always there for us, the Palestinians are great people, their courage is very impressive.
The city of Nablus is a very impressive city, it is big and also wonderful. The city is made up of an old city where we can go to buy souvenirs on Palestine.
My workshop was the French language workshop, the class consisted of 6 girls and 3 boys, it’s nice because it allowed us to be very close to our students. I hope to keep in touch for a very long time with our students.
The campus is very welcoming as are the students. The campus is superb that gives me maybe ideas for a possibility to come to study Arabic at An-Najah. We were able to visit local institutions, such as the Balata refugee camp. It’s a camp where living conditions are not easy but people are always there with a smile it’s very impressive.
One of the cities that impressed me most surely is Bethlehem with its wall of a vast immensity. But this city can also bring me the most emotions. Thanks to the Banksy museum, this museum is very moving, it explains very clearly the history past. A local volunteer took the time to explain the museum features, which really touched me.
After this step we were able to recharge our batteries in the dessert with the Bedouins. After an evening of trying to learn the Palestinian dance, we left early in the morning to see the sunrise over the Dead Sea.
We were also able to visit Hebron, a city divided into two parts. The city that can be the most shocked. There are checks points everywhere, the Palestinians cannot go to a part of the city.
I think this trip was also wonderful, thanks to the local volunteers and the international volunteers, we had a very good team (5 girls and 6 boys) hear it was great, laughs, help, the local volunteers always present for us, some of us are extremely marked, like Maha, Silwadi and Ramsis, I think it is the people who have most marked this trip. Not to mention the bus driver! Thanks to them, really they gave themselves to 2000% so that we are well, every morning, every afternoon and evenings, the program was organized to perfection (can sometimes be a little too busy). Thank you a thousand times, you are really amazing people!
I will finish this reflection by saying to other people who may be hesitant to do so: go for it, it is the most beautiful experience of my life.
