Zajel Organizes a Cultural Trip to the Syrian Golan
The International Youth Exchange Programme (Zajel) of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah organized a cultural trip to the Syrian Golan for 50 students from An-Najah.
The trip aimed at introducing the students to the water resources in the region and its role in the Arab-Israeli conflict as well as the Golan’s history, old traditions and relics.
The students also visited the Valley of Tears, an area in the Golan Heights after it became the site of a major battle in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, known as the Valley (or Vale) of Tears Battle, which was fought between 6 and 9 October.
After that the students went to Mount Bental /Tal Al-Gharam, which is a dormant volcano in the North-Eastern part of the Golan Heights that extends to an elevation of 1.171 meters above sea level.
From the mountain peaks, the students saw Quneitra, which is the largely destroyed and abandoned capital of the Quneitra Governorate in south-western Syria.
