Zajel Hosts an American Student Delegation
Zajel Youth Exchange Program organized a study visit for an American delegation of students, in which they visited the university’s new and old campuses. The local volunteers of Zajel Program explained more about the university and its different faculties, they also visited the Voice of An-Najah Radio Station and met its staff; the delegation were introduced to the programs and its activities.
The delegation then headed towards the old city of Nablus, where they visited some of the interesting sites there and saw some of the ruins and the destruction left by Israeli invasions. The delegation also visited the new Askar refugee camp and met with the head of the Social Development Center, who explained the role of the center in the refugee camp and the different activities organized by the center to benefit the citizens of the camp, especially the children, through useful clubs and activities. They were then taken on a tour in the camp, meeting people of the camp and eye-witnesses of the 1948 catastrophe.
The visit was organized as part of the co-operation between the Alternative Tourism Group, ATG, in Bethlehem, which works in the field of study programs for students and international visitors interested in the region. ATG is working to promote tourism in the Palestinian areas, with an emphasis on human and cultural tourism, and aims to invite more people to Palestinian areas, using Palestinian tour guides and facilities
