Organizing a Workshop on the Visual, Spoken and Written Language in Media
The Faculty of Media and the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) organized a workshop on the visual, spoken and written language in media which was administered by the Palestinian producer and journalist, Abdel Al-Salam Abu Nada.
Abu Al-Nada spoke about the nature of formation in the visual language and how it is different from the formation nature in the spoken and written language. He also explained the tools used and the differences of criticism and judgment on each of the two methods.
Moreover, Abu Al-Nada spoke about the importance of the language of the image in the age of communication revolution and the development of modern media. He also discussed the specifications of media language, the components of the visual language such as the image, the font, the color and the motion, in addition to explaining the methods used to reach the viewer.
Furthermore, he explained the role of harmony in color performance and the relationship between colors and media and cinema, pointing out the role satellite channels in causing social distress or stability through the use of colors which are considered among the most influential things that affect the viewer. Additionally, Abu Al-Nada spoke about encoding in media production and the impact of American drama on Arabic cinema through presenting a historical description of the development of the Egyptian drama and the different political and social factors that impacted it over the years. He emphasized the importance of media in putting Arabic media on the right path.
Abu Al-Nada studied fine arts in Malta and obtained high diploma from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza. He works as a TV and cinema producer in addition to being a journalist. He also works as a consultant for the general supervisor of official media in Palestine and an executive director of the training project of the Palestine Movie and Video Directors Association (Pmvda) and the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
In addition to this, Abu Al-Nada is an expert and consultant in the training on the different fields of TV art and has worked as a general director of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation. He also prepared and presented a number of TV programs for the Corporation from 1995-2007, and worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Media at Al-Aqsa University in Gaza, and the Faculty of Fine Arts. He also supervised the Diploma Program in TV Arts at Al-Aqsa University from 1998-2004. He is also the chairman of the Palestine Movie and Video Directors Association (Pmvda) and has published a number of books and articles.
