Zajel Visits Syria, Tours its Universities, Institutions and Cities
In Cooperation with Academy Syria, Nahas Group in Damascus, Zajel Youth Exchange Program of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah National University organized a study visit to Syria. Fourteen students participated in the visit that has lasted for one week. The program included a series of cultural visits to Syrian sites such as the Umayyad Mosque, Qaser Al-Azem, Salaheddin Tomb, the Old City of Damascus and its cultural sites, the Syrian Radio and TV Station, Damascus University, Homs University, Aleppo University, Aleppo Citadel and other famous historical and architectural features in Syria.
The Zajel Group met with Vice President of the University of Homs, who briefed his guests on the developments of the University and its programs. He also assured the visiting delegation on the importance of cooperation with An-Najah National University. Then, the Zajel group met with the Dean of Students Affairs and the Director of the Public Relations Department at the University of Homs who welcomed the Palestinian guests and exchanged ideas about ways to reinforce relationships between both sides.
Zajel group was the guest of the Radio Show, Youth Magazine that was organized by the Damascus Radio Station. The show’s theme was about the philosophy of the Zajel Youth Exchange Program as well as problems facing the Palestinian youth. The Zajel Group also met administrators, employees, directors, actors and actresses and representatives of the Damascus Radio and TV Station and learned about the projects and mechanisms of action there.
The Group also visited Ma`lola town, which is famous for preserving the Aramaic language (the language of Jesus Christ), and toured its historical sites, churches and its mountains. This visit was an opportunity for the Palestinian visiting students to learn about tolerance and coexistence in Syria in which varied religious and cultural communities shape the Syrian mosaic. Dr. Nabil Alawi, Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah National University, said that the study visit was a successful visit despite the troubles that accompanied its preparations. “It achieved its goals and we will work on planning more study visits in the near future,” he added.
