Study Tour for a French Delegation hosted by An-Najah
In co-operation with the Ministry of Higher Education, the University organized a study visit for thirty French visitors from different parts of France. The Delegation was hosted by the Public Relations Department, represented by its Director, Mr. Saed Abu Hijleh, who spoke about the university, its programs and its latest developments. He also spoke of the Israeli violations to the university’s right to education, which was recently violated by the killing of one of its students who died two days ago on a checkpoint. He mentioned that the total number of the university’s causalities had reached 46 students in five years. He thanked the French people for their continuing support to the Palestinian cause and highly appreciated the attitude of the French People and their government toward the Palestine question.
A PowerPoint presentation was screened by Zajel Youth Exchange Program; its title was: “Palestinian History and Culture since 1930″. It highlighted the important phases of the Palestine question, the Ottoman Era, the Turkish Mandate, the Jewish immigration to Palestine, the War of 1948 and the War of 1967.
A tour to the old city of Nablus was organized, in the company of the volunteers of Zajel as well as the students’ council members, where the French students had the opportunity to see the cultural and architectural sites of the old city of Nablus.
Another tour was organized to the refugee camp of Balata, where volunteers witnessed the conditions of the refugees and the sufferance they are going through since 1948.
